Norris sculpture update

Friday, November 16, 2007

Dear Editor,

I thought it was about time for a Norris sculpture update. As readers know, the life-size sculpture of Sen. Norris was placed on the front lawn of the Norris Home, 706 Norris Ave. during Heritage Days.

This project was supported by people buying a replica ("Little George") for $125.

The plan is to sell 200 of these from this limited casting. To date, 183 of the mini-sculptures have been sold. That means that there are only going to be 17 available for those readers who still want to participate.

Gary Ginther has been making the "Little Georges" as time permits. To date, 65 of these have been distributed and mailed in the order that they were purchased.

Sculpture No. 1 is at the Norris House. We delivered sculpture No. 2 to Sharon Wallace, the mayor of Norris, Tenn.

She liked it so well that she ordered another one for herself and also mailed checks from three of her friends.

Approximately 20 percent of these mini-sculptures are going out of state to Norris fans and relatives around the country.

If any reader wants to purchase one of the remaining "Little Georges," they can contact me at (308) 345-7650 or call Don Hall at the Norris Home at (308) 345-8484, or stop and get an order form from Don during the Tuesday-Saturday afternoon hours.

Thank you,

Duane Tappe,

McCook
