Letter to the Editor

Pandora's box

Thursday, September 13, 2007

Dear Editor,

You opened up a Pandora's box, Mr. Sehnert.

People like you in McCook just don't want to see people get along or change. Everybody has a past. But if people don't let the underdogs alone, how are they supposed to have a future?

The Bussards are a good family. Jerry and Les are the ones who were probably corrupted by the big shots of this town.

I'd like to know how many skeletons you have in your closet?

As for the only eye witness, Philip Gonzales. I'm damn proud of my big brother. He would probably be upset by this letter, as would my husband, but they know it's impossible to shut me up when I get upset about something.

How many other people would have the guts or the brains to do what my brother did?

My niece should be proud of her father, Philip. I sure as hell am.

When we were growing up, he was my role model. He changed. He believes in God and prayer.

Maybe he will pray for you.

As for Battershell, I've heard stories about him from people like you. Outstanding citizens? I think not. You want to lynch someone, look in your own backyard.

Mary Gonzales Peterson,

Proud to be Philip's sister,

McCook
