Commissioners to adopt $18.4 million budget

Friday, September 7, 2007

Red Willow County commissioners plan a public hearing at 9:30 a.m., Monday, before adopting the county's $18.4 million budget for 2007-08.

At 10 a.m., the board will discuss the possibility of the county sharing a portion of the half-cent sales tax being requested by the City of McCook.

The county's proposed budget of disbursements, totaling $18,397,116.98, will require $2,158,698.86 in personal and real property taxes.

The county's tax levy -- 35 cents for every $100 of tax valuation -- will remain the same as last year.

A detailed graph of the proposed budget is available in the Wednesday, Sept. 5 edition of the Gazette.

Commissioners will also discuss drainage south of Perry and flood plain maps with roads superintendent Gary Dicenta; and interlocal agreements for municipal ordinance enforcement in Danbury and Citizen Corp. contracts with Sheriff Gene Mahon.

Other agenda items are: A correction of the levy allocation to the High Plains Historical Society from $17,391.63 to $17,491.63; a decision to increase the base of restricted funds by an additional 1 percent, a 12-year warranty by Houlden Contracting Inc. for roof repairs on the District 3 shop, changes in subgrant paperwork from CEDARS Youth Services to Lutheran Family Services, updates on the county's CDBG loan accounts, and, acting as a board of equalization, tax roll corrections.
