Say no to water

Thursday, August 23, 2007

Dear Editor,

I had a woman new to McCook area, stop at the store. Her words were not kind for the area, for she brought a half-blood wolf pup with her and the local animal doctors refused to work on anything wild so she has to go clear to North Platte for such service. Makes me glad I raise plants!

As for water rates, many of us boycott outside water not to be testy, but it is like the man who came up with his kids to the store.

His words: "every month I must decide, do I see a doctor for two minutes or feed my family for a month." So it is with water.

See a rich McCook person just breaks out his checkbook when the water bill shows up, but a poor family with few spendable dollars, and they are worth less every day, must say NO to outside water.

Rest assured I am not the only person that has not used one drop of groundwater nor city water to grow the largest garden in two decades this year with the help of popped corn in the soil.
