Enjoy the Local Landmark Scavenger Hunt

Thursday, July 12, 2007

If you need an excuse to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather we've been having, we hope you take Wednesday's "Homespun Fun" tabloid along with you.

The "Local Landmarks" scavenger hunt can be an entertaining reason to walk around town, exercising brains as well as legs as you try to remember where you've seen that payphone sign or that clock that's right twice a day.

Don't miss out on the fun -- and a chance to win an iPod Nano -- before recycling this week's papers.

If you can match Cody Dame's photos -- all taken from outside -- with the real thing, fill out the entry form on page 11 of Wednesday's special edition and turn it in to the Gazette, at West First and E streets in McCook, by next Wednesday, July 18.

Shoppers were "on the bricks" early this morning looking for bargains, and clerks tried to out-do each other with costumes to add to the gaiety.

Stay in touch for schedule and time for this year's special events, the Backyard Barbecue Contest, Minnow Races and Trutle Races as well as sidewalk sales.

After the last few years, when 100 degree weather and drought have been the norm for Crazy Days, this year's event is a welcome break.

Now, where's that barber pole ... ?
