Letter to the Editor

Good luck, McCook

Tuesday, May 29, 2007

Dear Editor,

I am a past administrator of the McCook Public Schools and I am happy to say a "past administrator."

According to the articles I read in the Lincoln and Omaha newspapers the school system has another "black" mark to their credit.

I have visited with numerous superintendents who laugh and say, "Who would want to be the superintendent at McCook?"

They all know that two or three board members are micro-managing the school system. The public needs to stand up and let the school board know they do not run or manage the school district, but are policy makers only.

The public and the school board need to find and hire a person who will take the school district over again and have it run for students and not for some board members ultra ego. Consider a year with an interim superintendent as a year wasted.

He will not make any major decisions, but will collect his monthly salary and to say to himself, "I only have to do this for one year."

Good luck, McCook Public Schools. Good luck students, parents and teachers.

You will need all the luck you can muster.
