Letter to the Editor

Center defense

Wednesday, May 23, 2007

Dear Editor,

I am writing in regard to what Dick Trail wrote about the Senior Center.

He stated that he thought the Senior Center was competing against the local restaurants for eating meals.

Where in town could you get a good balanced meal for $2.50, which includes vegetables and dessert? You could stop on Norris Avenue and get a cup of coffee and large roll and pay almost as much as the seniors pay for a good meal.

You stated the meals were subsidized by $83,300 from state and federal money.

How about the airport, Mr. Trail, that draws a large sum of money from the federal government that you fly your airplane out of all the time?

You also stated the Senior Center was buying their supplies from Cash Wa Distributing Co.; to my knowledge, there is no place in McCook that sells and delivers those kinds of products.

Look at the amount of money that is being spent for a walking trail here in McCook.

Therefore, I feel the small amount of money that is allotted for the Senior Center is a very small amount compared to all the other projects that are given to McCook.

Fran Broz,

McCook
