Area JH teams compete at GPAC

BENKELMAN -- Dundy County hosted the junior high GPAC track meet Monday. Dundy County won the event in both the girls and boys divisions.

Medicine Valley's boys finished in second, Arapahoe took third, Southwest was fourth and Wauneta-Palisade took fifth. Wallace end up in sixth place, Hitchcock County was seventh, Maywood took eighth and Hayes Center was ninth.

Arapahoe's girls finished behind the Tigers in second, Wallace was in third, Hitchcock County took fourth and Wauneta-Palisade was fifth. Southwest finished in sixth, Medicine Valley was seventh, Maywood took eighth and Hayes Center was ninth.

Cassie Starks was a double medal winner for Dundy County. Starks won the 100 meter dash and the triple jump. Taylor Brooks took home two wins for Southwest in the 800m run and the 1600m run and Shelby Hamilton of Wauneta-Palisade won both the shot put and discus.

Justin Malleck earned two first place medals for Southwest's boys. Malleck won the 200m dash and the discus and Sean May of Wallace won both the 400m run and the long jump.
