Important event

Saturday, May 5, 2007

Dear Editor,

On April 18, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the controversial Federal Partial Birth Abortion Ban. This ruling provides a huge shot in the arm to many in the pro-life movement who have been laboring since Roe v. Wade came down. It shows the importance of political action in supporting and voting for pro-life candidates.

Julie Schmit-Albin, Exec-utive Director of Nebraska Right to Life, stated "We are thankful that the highest Court in the land finally sees partial birth abortion for what it is ... infanticide.

The Court has ruled that the abortion industry does not have the right to find new ways of killing unborn children."

She noted that the new Justices John Roberts and Samuel Alito voted with the majority decision.

"We are thankful that Congress passed another federal ban after Nebraska's ban was struck down in 2000 and we are very grateful for the efforts of the pro-life movement in electing President Bush who nominated Justices Roberts and Alito and for the Senate confirmation of those justices." Schmit-Albin said.

Thanks to the efforts of the pro-life movement and all of you who have persisted in voting for pro-life candidates, we have succeeded in helping to stop this "gruesome procedure" for killing unborn children.

We want to encourage everyone to persevere in voting for candidates that uphold the sanctity of life and will work for laws that will once again restore the right to life for ALL unborn babies.
