Letter to the Editor

Great performance

Thursday, March 29, 2007

Dear Editor,

Wow, what a show! I was so glad that I attended the Western Nebraska Community Collegiate Chorale's performance in the Tipton Theatre on the MCC campus, Wednesday, March 28th, 2007.

We were treated to such a diverse repertoire of wonderful music, I could hardly stand it! The performance held me absolutely captive the entire time. The harmonies were superb and tight and the formal attire was gorgeous.

Selections included, but were not limited to, several sacred pieces and spirituals, as well as favorites from "Les Miserables," "Rent," "Smokey Joe's Cafe," "Mama Mia," "The Pajama Game" (a favorite of mine), and "Grease," a standard in the Karr household.

Also performing from within the chorale were "Varsity Vocalise" with their colorful attire and choreographed num-bers, and WNCC's male quartet, "Just Bluffin," because they're from Scottsbluff, get it? (Thanks Glenda).

I was literally moved to tears towards the end of the program when the full choir began the "Circle of Life" from the "Lion King."

That song holds many memories for me, memories tied to a time of battle that ended in victory for my family. It was absolutely haunting.

WNCC Collegiate Chorale left us with "God Bless America," a piece that they were proud to have performed, and rightfully so, at the Governor's inauguration.

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Glenda Baker, MCC Music Instructor and Rita Stinner WNCC Director of Choral Activities, for sharing that wonderful evening with my family and I. (How many times can one use the word "wonderful" in a letter?)

Please come visit us again, I'll be the first one seated!

 Sincerely,

JeriLynn Karr
