Crash memories sought

Thursday, March 8, 2007

Dear Readers,

I am searching for information pertaining to the crash of a World War II-era B-17 bomber that happened on April 10, 1945, approximately 11 miles west of Maywood which resulted in the deaths of five airmen. My project, and upcoming planned book, involves documenting every aviation crash that occurred in Nebraska during World War II.

The newspaper accounts and the official military accident report do not reveal the exact location of the crash site. Clues from one newspaper said that it happened on the Markee Farm north of Burr Lloyds. If anyone remembers this accident, the names of the landowers, or can identify the crash location please contact me.

Sincerely,

Jerry Penry
