Build a family park

Tuesday, January 16, 2007

Dear Editor,

I have an idea, Don't be too judgmental, I was a product designer for 35 years.

Since I was paid for my ideas, it is difficult for me to get it out of my system. Our city's main draw to the small communities that surround us is its retail attraction. I believe we can build on that, and perhaps draw more people to McCook.

My idea is to provide a place for the parents to bring their younger children for a family outing and also a tourist attraction. Some of the retailers could build small playhouses to provide a play community of about 25 or more houses plus stores, school, church etc.

It should have a wading pool, animal petting farm and a concession stand. The area should be located, as close to McCook as possible along a highway with at least 5 acres that will be needed later for expansion.

I see it as a community effort and not a private, money-making operation. I would appreciate your opinions. Thank-you for your consideration.
