Letter to the Editor

Way to go, fans!

Tuesday, November 28, 2006

Dear Editor,

Way to go western Nebraska football fans! Your attendance at the Chadron State vs West Texas NCAA II Football Playoff game at Elliott Field on Saturday was simply amazing.

In my 36 years of attending CSC home games, I have never seen a larger or more enthusiastic crowd. After the game, one of the West Texas A&M players told one of our players that, even though their home stadium holds 20,000 people, he has never played in front of a louder crowd than the one at Saturday's game.

Football, perhaps more than any other sport, is a game of emotions.

And, I can assure you that the Chadron State football players fed off of your energy on Saturday.

I have said for a long time that the special thing about living in western Nebraska is that the whole area is one big community and you proved that to be true this past Saturday at Don Beebe Stadium. I know that the team and coaches are grateful to you.

Every one of those young men will do everything in their power to keep our run at the National Championship alive when they play at Northwest Missouri State this coming Saturday.

The people of this area can take great pride in the fact that a team made up largely of athletes from western Nebraska communities and small towns throughout the High Plains region is now in the elite eight of the 2006 NCAA Division II Football Championship. Go Eagles!
