Letter to the Editor

Hats off to Esther

Friday, November 17, 2006

Dear Editor,

I say hats off to Esther Wissbaum of McCook for her very timely comments in the Monday, Nov. 13 paper under Letter to the Editor.

It seems to be so popular to just grunt when someone says thank you.

What happened to "please," "thank you," "yes sir," "yes ma'm" "no thank you," and a few of the little kindnesses that go unnoticed?

How did we get so far away from the home plate? The mud-slinging that went on in the last election was the worst I have seen or heard!

I can't help but think of how much good could have happened if the money spent on mud-slinging would have been spent on shelters for the homeless, low-income homes, hospital additions or hospitals for children who have long-term health needs.

Believe me, if I had $12 million, I sure would not spend it in the circle of mud-slinging!

I think we need to put in God We Trust back into our schools and our homes!

Alta Keating,

Palisade
