I was very happy to see that you are remembering "our" birthday back home ["USMC plans birthday party" (http://www.mccook gazette.com/story/1175023.html).]
It seems that some forget that you don't need hundreds of people to gather to celebrate something so dear to those of us who have worn the uniform of a United States Marine, or loved someone who has.
As I have always been told, it takes but two, one to be the oldest and the other to be the youngest, to do it right.
So please enjoy the evening in the company of family and friends, tell a few "sea stories," which we all know are never untrue, and remember those of us who can not be there with you in body, will surely be there with you in spirit.
Happy Birthday Marines!
God Bless and Semper Fi,
Victor J. Purvis
