USMC plans birthday party

Dear Editor,

Friday, Nov. 10, will be the 231st birthday of the United States Marine Corps. On Nov. 10, 1775, a Corps of Marines was created by a resolution of the Continental Congress. Each November, as Marines around the world celebrate the birth of the Corps, we pay tribute to a long line of "Soldiers of the Sea" and the illustrious legacy they have handed down to us.

For these past six years, we have had a birthday party in this area that has been attended by 20-25 former Marines, friends and spouses.

We have made arrangements to have dinner at Sehnert's Bieroc Cafe in McCook on Friday, Nov. 10 at 6:30 p.m. Plan to come at 5:30 if you want to socialize and tell stories.

After dinner, we will have a speaker, cut the birthday cake and have some great entertainment.

The $12 charge will cover the meal, cake, etc. We would like to have a final count by Wednesday, Nov. 8. Please help spread the word by telling your Marine friends.
