Theocracy? I think not

Friday, September 22, 2006

Dear Editor,

Why is it that so many liberals think there is a growing theocracy in the United States?

The answer to that is simple. The liberals know full well that their attempt to change our culture is failing.

Since they are unable to change our culture to match their view the problem is religion, hence theocracy.

What they seem to forget is the culture they are attempting to change has rather deep religious roots and has always been an important part of American life.

On the very day (Sept 25, 1789) our congress passed the text of what was later adopted as the First Amendment they also took another action. They passed a resolution asking President George Washington to declare a national day of thanksgiving to praise the almighty God.

Let's be realistic, theocracy could never be imposed in our government. There are just too many faiths.

Even among Christians there are too many matters which run too deep that a common faith could ever hold enough majority to enforce their beliefs on our government and the people.
