Proud symbol

It was with interest that I read your story about the team mascots. After being a loyal "Bison" fan, I became a McCook College "Indian" fan, a term I did not know to be degrading, as we were very proud of our teams.

I now live in Aniak, Alaska, and the residents of this village are equally as proud of their "Halfbreeds," a mascot picked by the students several years ago.

Really, it's more than just a name, it's a symbol to be proud of.
