Letter to the Editor

Regaining hope

Friday, December 23, 2005

Dear Editor,

I would like to thank everybody for their kind donations to the Relief Truck and to the Christmas Project for Moss Point, Miss.

Both projects were a success. The Relief Truck was directed to one church, while other churches were notified.

The parishioners of various churches met the truck and everything was unloaded by hand and divvied up to be allotted where most needed.

Thirty-five boxes of toys, stuffed animals and Christmas candies were packed full!

These items were mailed, along with blankets and pillows, which are still much needed in this area, as we have all heard on the news that parts of Mississippi resemble third-world countries since the devastation of Katrina.

These boxes will be separated by the ministers and teachers of Moss Point, as they are more aware of the people most in need.

I believe we people of Southwest Nebraska helped the people of Moss Point regain hope.

Each item donated was really one heart reaching out, saying "I care."

To me, this is the true meaning of Christmas.

A gift of hope and kindness to be embraced not just unwrapped.

Thank you and Merry Christmas.
