What won't happen

Friday, December 16, 2005

Dear Editor,

Being a follower of Art Bell since 1991, he has had many speak on his radio show, of the future. I, however, will not predict what is coming in '06 but rather what is not coming!

1. I predict McCook will NOT increase city sales tax one penny, so the area can have a FREE medical clinic, open 7 days a week. This to allow the minimum-wage people and fixed income to have health care that is very hard at present costs!

As for the best story of 2005:

Over at the park, two boys, one third grade and the other fourth grade, were about 45 feet away from the store.

The youngest one was using heavy language and wanting to fight. He called the older boy names with no results so he called the older boy's sister naughty names.

The older boy said "I hate my sister, call her anything you want."

So, the younger boy called his parents names and yet still the older boy did not want to fight. Finally, the younger boy knocked over the older boy's bike and the fight was on. Now, over the last 22 years, have I seldom seen two speak of rules before they fight but these two did.

The older boy, saying it would not be fair as he was older and weighed 12 pounds heavier, so he would put one arm behind his back. Now as far as any other rules there were NONE.

So from pushing, hitting and kicking between the legs, the battle raged with one break for a soda. During the titan battle that lasted most of 15 minutes, the older boy never once cheated and used his arm but kept it behind him. There was no clear winner, and both finally left.

Part of the reason the battle lasted extra long was that six little girls stood there watching!
