Letter to the Editor

Straight talk

Tuesday, December 6, 2005

Dear Editor,

My fellow Americans: Thanksgiving Day has passed, yet we should always be thankful we live in a democracy and have a president who has no sign of dyslexia.

Every speech, every sentence structure, is intelligible. His grammar is supurb and vocabulary unexcelled.

Budgetary concerns are no object, because the Commander in Chief has figured this out in his mind. The hard-hitting leadership of one man's moral courage is continually the brutality of the uncivilized against his inflexible passion to see freedom's light shine.

The movement to pull out of Iraq, to cut and run, is not gaining momentum. These feeble-minded war protesters would have left Hitler alone. Pacifists fail to grasp Western Civilization is under serious attack from those who hate us.

Our troops in Iraq are placing their lives on the line.

As they hand over more responsibility to Iraqis in the war against the enemy, training more troops to be aware of atomic bombs hidden away in foreign countries is not an option.

The war in Iraq will not be won on a timetable. If we fail in Iraq, the terrorist may strike back. Victory will come when the Saddamists, evil doers, suspected insurgents and nearly everyone is taken into custody and waiting to be brought to justice.

When the Iraqi security forces can provide for the safety of their own citizens.

And, when Iraq is not a safe haven for terrorists to plot new attacks on our nation.

When our mission of defeating the enemy is won, we will settle for nothing short of total victory.

Then starting a new war: The war against dyslalia -- inability to articulate speech.

Steve Stramel,

McCook
