Letter to the Editor

Grateful soldier

Thursday, November 10, 2005

Dear Editor,

This is an email my mother (Linnaea Budke, McCook) received from a soldier from McCook.

Thought it might be nice to print this one.

Dear Mrs. Budke,

Thank you very much for the packages you sent and everything that was in them. I passed them around to the soldiers in the unit and everything was enjoyed very much. There was not one item left behind after they started looking in each package. You sent exactly what everyone wanted or needed.

I am assigned to the 3d Corps Support Command out of Des Moines, Iowa. I am originally assigned to the 1013th from McCook, but they needed me to fill a vacancy with the 3d when they were mobilized. We are working at Logistical Support Area Anaconda which is next to the city of Balad, Iraq. Our unit coordinates all the ordering and movement of supply and parts throughout the theater. Things are as dangerous here as they are elsewhere in the country and hopefully they will stay that way. We have received mortar attacks, but the insurgents don't have the range to hit any structures here on the post.

Again, thank you for everything you sent!
