Gitten' 'er done

Monday, October 31, 2005

Dear Editor,

Larry the Cable guy says "get er done."

Here are some examples.

I have had so many locals telling of near-misses with rattlers, copperheads and side-winders this year, but only complain about it.

Finally a guy from Culbertson did something about it. He got some king snakes and turned them loose on his farm to kill the deadly snakes.

Guess it is like starting a back fire to fight a fire. He said the Game and Parks wouldn't help, and so after killing more than a dozen rattlers and two copperheads this summer, he decided this was his only hope.

Others tell of turning hogs loose on the river and creek bottoms to get rid of over growth and chase deer away which carry deadly diseases and endanger cars filled with children.

Hogs with tusks left on are also a great weapon against the big cats being brought in, they told. I, personally, as a boy north of Hamlet, saw hogs kill snakes, so they are a great tool to have around.

Last one, on the "get er done:"

I had a business man from a town west of here tell of the blessing of high gas price. His sales have doubled, and he will expand with hope of bringing even more sales back to his town.

He said this is the first ray of hope his small town has had in decades.

He finished by saying you'll never get a better chance to stick it to the corporations than now.

I do enjoy hearing the common people tired of being run over start to fight back.
