ATWOOD -- Arden Kenneth Hale, 85, died Tuesday (June 14, 2005), at Rawlins County Health Center in Atwood.

He was born June 6, 1920 to Glenn B. and Ruby (Johnson) Hale in Formosa, Kan. He graduated from Mankato High School in 1937 and attended Kansas State University. He served in World War II, and was a newspaper editor.

He married Joan Cochran Hale on Oct. 3, 1948 in Atwood.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church, V.F.W. Post in Herndon, American Legion No. 46, and the Atwood Country Club and Masonic Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan on July 18, 1996; two brothers, John and Fred; and one sister, Maxine Johnson.

Survivors include one son, Kim Alan Hale of Atwood; two daughters, Connie Jo Hale and husband, Kendall Jensen of Seattle, Wash., and Marla Coleen Dorgan of Hunnington, N.Y.; and one brother, Richard of Lawrence, Kan.

Services will be Friday at 10 a.m., at the United Methodist Church in Atwood with the Rev. Terry McGuire officiating. Full military rights will be given by the American Legion.

Memorials can be given to the Atwood Country Club.

There will be no visitation. The body was cremated.

Brantley Funeral Home in Atwood is in charge of arrangements.
