Letter to the Editor

It might rain again

Friday, June 3, 2005

Dear Editor,

Culturally speaking, the Buffalo Commons Storytelling Festival is one of the best things that has happened to this corner of the state. We have revisited our heritage in story and song.

This year, we have broadened the scope of the message brought to us by cowboy poets and folk singers. We have a session devoted to farmers and ranchers: "You Have to Be Delusional to Farm in Southwest Nebraska."

I have sent some three dozen postcards to friends near our neighboring towns; urging them to come to Sehnerts Bieroc Cafe for shared stories and free cookies and beverages. Husband and wife partners were invited, and they were asked to spread the word. Date and time: Saturday, June 11 at 12:30 p.m., just right for dessert.

Your busy schedule may have you shaking your head, but it could rain again. And, if only Mom is available, she should wend her way up Norris Avenue. We know she's full of stories. I plan to tell about setting a wheat field on fire! And, Walt is primed for action, too.

Thanks for your time and attention.

Mary Ellen
