Letter to the Editor

Individual or person?

Tuesday, May 31, 2005

Dear Editor,

The preponderance of letters to the editor concerning the subject of homosexuality, and the laissez faire attitude of the writers is beginning to bug me.

The attitude seems to be "live and let live." The antithesis of this saying might well be, "live and let die," and I have too much concern for mankind in general not to try to rebut and educate, where possible, people who are open-minded and of a reasonable intellect.

Let's start with a very simple metaphysical principle: "Something is, or is not; something exists, or it does not exist."

For example, (here, I address myself to my worthy opponent, Bryan Wyant), the flatness of the earth never did exist and was only discovered fallacious in due time; however, God created Adam and Eve in his own image (certainly not physically, but spiritually) and he blessed them and said, "be fruitful and multiply," (Gen. 1-28).

Now the latter came into existence with its "isness" stood then, cannot be changed with time and in now way can be compared with the fallacious concept of the flatness of the earth.

With regard to poor Noah, and his disregard for the "bloated corpses" and the "pregnant women" and their "unborn children" floating around the Ark, once again, Bryan, you must become aware of the metaphysical principle concerning the nature of man. First of all, as an individual, you are not worth "diddley."

As a person, on the other hand, you are worth your weight in gold. Your individuality comes from your body and that body could be wiped out in an instant.

On the other hand, your person comes from your soul, your spiritual nature, and you can count on it, that will last throughout eternity.

Now I would not be too hard on Noah if he took little notice of those corpses, those individuals, those bodies floating around the Ark.

James G. McHale,

McCook
