'Can do' town

Thursday, May 12, 2005

Dear Editor,

It is with heartfelt thanks that we write to you about the success of our first fund raiser for the McCook Recreational Trail.

As with any community improvement, there are many folks who are happy to give lip-service in support of a walking trail.

However, the Eity of McCook has unique citizens that not only told us they supported the trail, but were willing to help financially to make this project a reality.

On the evening of May 3, the Rotary Club hosted a fund raising event to increase the funds already generously donated by the Middle Republican Natural Re-sources District and the City of McCook.

It was a wonderful evening full of fellowship, good food and a GREAT inspirational speaker. The event netted funding of just over $3,000 which is applied to the $12,000 we need to raise from the community to complete the first phase of Kelley Creek.

The McCook Trail Committee would like to publicly thank the many people that made the event successful.

First, to all the people who attended the evening. Thank you to Matt Sehnert and Mike Ford who presented a wonderful buffet of unique appetizers, including the "sushi"!

To Steve Clark and Phillis Cohen at the Republican River Valley Event Center for hosting the event and to the generous Rotarians who gave not only their time, but a generous cash donation as well. Tax deductible donations can still be made through the McCook Rotary Club.

Happy Trails!
