Crimestoppers ups reward for information on last summer's murder

Friday, March 25, 2005

The McCook Area Crimestoppers is offering a $1,500 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for the murder of David Moreau.

Moreau was found dead outside his home on or about July 18. Red Willow County Attorney Paul Wood ruled the death a homicide, citing blunt force trauma to the head as the cause of death.

Normally the limit for Crimestoppers rewards is $1,000, but the limit was raised for this case during the regular meeting of the Crimestoppers Board of Directors.

Anyone with information about the case or any crime may call the Crimestoppers Hotline at (308) 345-5440 or toll free at (866) 345-5440. A tip line is also available by logging on to:

A phone call to the Crimestoppers hotline in January led to the felony arrest of an individual in connection with a methamphetamine lab in rural Southwest Nebraska. The caller was awarded $100 by the McCook Area Crimestoppers for the assistance.

On Jan. 19, the McCook Police Department received an anonymous call on its Crimestoppers line. Since that person did not wish to have their name released, they were given a Crimestopper number, which they referred to from that point forward.

Since the information involved a crime outside the city of McCook, it was transferred to the Nebraska State Patrol. The State Patrol in turn utilized the information to make the arrest.
