Don Lee McDonald died Monday (Feb. 14, 2005) at the McCook Community Hospital in McCook at the age of 72.

He was born Oct. 25, 1932, at McCook, Neb., the son of the late Alexander and Elizabeth (Yost) McDonald.

Don was a lifelong resident of McCook and graduated from McCook High School in 1951 and later graduated from McCook Community College in 1959.

On June 7, 1953, Don married Wanda Grimes.

Don worked in retail sales at Montgomery Ward and worked for McCook TV and Hify as a repair technician and also for Stickneys. He became broadcast engineer for KRVN Radio at Lexington and worked for Horizon Communications when Cable TV came to McCook in the mid 1980s and this company became TCI Charter Communications.

He was also a part-time weather observer at the McCook Airport, retiring in early 1990.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda McDonald of McCook and two sons, William E. McDonald and Steven M. McDonald and wife, Julie of Sanatoga, Pa.; two grandchildren, Benjamin McDonald and Abigail McDonald; one brother, Byron McDonald of Overland Park, Kan.; one sister, LaVaughn Seeman of Denver, Colo.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 19, 2005, at the Herrmann Memorial Chapel in McCook with the Rev. Dr. Jeffery Thurman officiating. Interment will be in the Culbertson Cemetery in Culbertson, Neb.

Memorials may be given in his name and friends may call at Herrmann Funeral Home in McCook from 9 a.m.-9 p.m.
