Whether you have a few dollars to spend or many thousands, intriguing gift ideas await you in the stores of McCook and the Golden Plains. For proof, check out the Gift Guides which which will be appearing weekly in the Gazette throughout the Christmas shopping season.

Last week's Guide for Early Shoppers set the tone, with the first inside page featuring items ranging from $2.99 for a 25-sheet pack of Christmas Stationery at Eakes Office Plus to $24,955 for a very dark mahogany Steinway M piano at Hershberger Music Co.

And there are many, many more gift suggestions for items priced in between.

For only $24.99, you can get a small gold deer outdoor sculpture from Barnett's D0-It Center. At Peterson Jewelers, which imports diamonds directly from Antwerp, Belgium, the Christmas season is opening with the Red Hat Special.

You also need to check out The Sports Shoppe, which is offering 20 percent off storewide, including sale items such as Big Red and Bison apparel.

Up the street and around the corner, shoppers will find the latest generation of Jofirushi breadmakers at Knowlen & Yates and three-way touch lamps at Ben Franklin.

The Norris Pole at Country Floral features vintage decorations from as far back as the early 1920s, while Lord's in Indianola gives old fashioned service on top name brands, including Maytag, Amana and Beautyrest.

In Cambridge, Faw Motor Company's many offerings include an all-new 2005 Chevrolet Equinox with all-wheel drive.

Tri-State Spas in McCook is offering free set-up and delivery, a free cover and $100 worth of chemicals for hot tubs priced from $3,400 to $5,500.

Farrell's Card & Gift Shop started the season with a special on the Polar Express Santa with purchases of three Hallmark cards, while Sehnert's Bakery and Bieroc Cafe priced pumpkin pies at $4.49 each.

McCook National Bank joined in the Christmas opening edition, extending their thanks for family and friends during the upcoming holiday season.

D&S Hardware & Nursery is offering cash back on KitchenAid countertop appliances, while Sew Little Time is featuring Ott lights and quilting calendars.

MSC Wireless is offering to add Alltel lines for $9.99 each on select plans and Hometown Brand Center is showcasing big screen, plasma and high definition television sets.

Budke Motor Company's specials include a 2002 Buick Century for $7,995, and Silver Thimble Sewing Center of Ogallala is offering a Pfaff 1016 sewing machine for $149.

Rounding out the opening Gift Guide were Wagner Ford-Mercury-Toyota's offer of 3.9 percent financing on QualityChecked pre-owned models, including an '03 Taurus for $189.86 a month, and Samway Floor Covering & Furniture's is featuring holiday values, including an Amity recliner for just $269.
