Chance, Hawpe wedding

Jeffrey and Heather Hawpe

ATWOOD -- Heather R. Chance and Jeffrey D. Hawpe, both of Salina, Kan., were united in marriage Sept. 4, 2004, at the Chance family farm near Atwood with the Rev. David Cooper of Wichita officiating.

Parents of the couple are Tom and Vicki Chance of Atwood and Francis and Jannice Hawpe of Hays, Kan. Grandparents of the bride are Alberta Chance of St. Francis and Ann Pittsinger of Lakewood, Colo. Grandparents of the bridegroom are Jane McBroom of Scott City, Kan. and Don Lewis of Salina.

The bride wore a satin, a-line gown beaded with pearls. The gown was covered with a long sleeved lace jacket with a chapel train trimmed with crystals and pearls which also trimmed her fingertip veil. She carried a silk bouquet of variegated lavender roses and white calla lilies created by her mother.

The matron of honor was Anne Willis of Boise, Idaho. She wore a floor length satin gown in deep purple and carried a bouquet of lavender roses. Bridesmaids included Diane Hawpe of Colby, Kan., sister of the bridegroom, and Tasha Havel of Hays.

The best man was Brian Meis of Kansas City, Mo., and the bridegroomsmen were Nathan Chance, brother of the bridegroom and Doug Stehm of Salina.

Ushers included Brian Plante of Salina and Glenn Acheson of McPherson, Kan.

The flower girl was Sadi Hawpe, daughter of the bridegroom, and the rings were carried by Austin Meis.

Lighting the candles were Elijah Pittsinger, cousin of the bride from Grand Junction, Colo., and Sabrina Durbin of Lindsborg, Kan.

Jenny Faimon of Stratton was the vocalist. The personal attendant was Annie Easterday of Atwood. The program and gift attendants were Denise Parr, sister of the bridegroom from Hays and Emily Pittsinger, cousin of the bride from Grand Junction. The accompanist was Mary Faimon of Stratton.

A dinner and dance were held at the Quality Inn, Colby. The hosts were Mike and Connie Cooper assisted by Emily Wahrman, all of Atwood. Cake attendants included Tammy Fontenot from Commerce City, Colo., and Vina Pittsinger of Littleton, Colo., both aunts of the bride. The three tiered cake covered in white fondant was created by Kathy Zweifel and Jannice Hawpe, mother of the bridegroom.

They honeymooned in Cascade, Colo.

The bride is a 1999 graduate of Atwood High School. She is a student at Kansas Wesleyan University majoring in biology with plans to enter the veterinary program at Kansas State University. The bridegroom is a 1994 graduate of Hays High School and is currently a bio-medical technician at Salina Regional Medical Center. Both are bio-medical technicians in the 388th Medical Logistics Unit of the Army Reserves based in Hays. They live in Salina.
