Will of God?

Monday, November 1, 2004

Dear Editor,

Another point of view concerning stem cell research -- if I believe that discarding embryos is discarding a human at the earliest stage of development, then I cannot believe it is the "will of God" to continue stem cell research on embryos that are not longer wanted or needed by the parents.

Much progress is being made with alternatives such as umbilical cords and other products of birth that used to be discarded after birth.

Other methods of harvesting stem cells show promise as well. I believe that if research proceeds with the point of view that all life is sacred, it will be more likely that we can attribute the scientific discoveries to God working in mysterious ways.

How can it be the will of God to destroy a human at its weakest point? Read Matthew 25:31-40.
