Letter to the Editor

Too many trees

Thursday, October 28, 2004

Dear Editor,

We were very pleased with your editorial on "The Problem, Too Many Trees," reprinted in the Superior Express, Superior, Neb.

We own hill land south of Guide Rock, Neb., mainly pasture and CRP land.

We spend many hours and a considerable amount of money controlling unwanted trees on the land.

The trees are using moisture that grassland really needs, especially during recent drought years.

Also, the trees give a protected place for musk thistles and other noxious weeds to grow.

It is our hope that many farmers and landowners will soon realize the importance of controlling unwanted trees.

Thank you,

Mr. and Mrs. Andy Jensen

Guide Rock
