Letter to the Editor

New confidence

Tuesday, August 31, 2004

Dear Editor,

As I drive the county roads checking for washouts, plugged culverts and gravel that needs to be hauled, I have noticed some things that need some recognition. I would like to thank the landowners who have taken it upon themselves to mow their respective properties ditches, not only where they live but land that they rent, which may be miles away.

It not only means a lot to me as a commissioner, but it says something about the character of the person who farms the ground. Again, thank you for caring.

The other thank you is to the person or persons who dumped off around 25 of the county road signs at the District 3 shop that had been missing. If anyone has information or sees anyone removing signs without proper authorization, please call.

This not only costs the county money, but also could cause a serious accident.

It feels great to see these kinds of things happening and gives me a renewed sense of confidence in our people, community and country.

Sincerely,

Leigh T. Hoyt,

Red Willow

County Commissioner
