Letter to the Editor

That's the truth

Tuesday, August 31, 2004

Dear Editor,

I'd like to address Robert A. Yost's letter of 8-26 A.D. 2004 to correct a few of his misconceptions.

Robert, your comparison to me and a Muslim shows me at least one thing, you may not have access to a dictionary. According to Funk and Wagnalls, a fanatic (root word "fan") is: "One who is moved by excessive enthusiasm or zeal," which I am. Every time one of my prayers is answered, or I spend time in the Word, my faith increases and with more faith comes more zeal.

According to some folks, nowhere is the proper place to discuss Jesus. Once again I would like to remind you that Jesus and "religion" are two different things. I'd like to suggest that you spend more time listening to what God says in His Word, and less of folks' opinions. My definition of "new ideas" or "other views" suggests compromise, and I try not to compromise.

God is not going to change His ways for you, you must change your ways for Him. I welcome new ideas, as long as those ideas don't contradict the Word.

Just going to church won't save you. Building a hospital won't save you. Giving all your money to the poor won't save you.

There is nothing wrong with good works, but works alone won't save you. John 3:3 states, "Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God," If you believe in Jesus, you will believe what He says. By reading the Bible, you will know what He says and you will know if you are in the right church.

There are numerous interpretations of a few vague scriptures, which cause different denominations. There are different ways to describe being "Born Again," depending on the church.

There has to be a definite time when you turn your back on Satan and his fetid minions and begin to follow Jesus. "If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed." (John 8:36.)

There is an answer, and a solution, to all your questions, in the Holy Bible, and that's the absolute truth.

Sincerely,

A Jesus fan,

George R. Anderson

McCook
