Letter to the Editor

Thanks for the fair

Friday, August 27, 2004

Dear Editor,

This a letter of praise for anyone and everyone who anything to do with putting the (Chase County) fair and parade on this year, the Expo was great. (Sorry Ed, Wayne is busy next year, you'll just have to keep the job.)

The display in the old 4-H building was great. That Christian Show was one of the best ones we've attended. They would probably be a great comeback show anytime and draw more people as many people really received a great surprise on just how powerful of a show they would give. They were an awesome group.

The mutton bustin', stick horse, scoop shovel, steer riding, 4-H groups, horseshoes, demolition derby, really great musical, great carnival rides (and clean ones at that), Lions and MCBS Mobile Screen Unit, Pepsi Day events, (we did not see Jocks and the J's) breakfasts, dinners, two nights of wonderful shows, tractor pull, quilt show, cars show of 100 Corvettes, other classic car and pickup show, all the motorcycles -- what more can we ask for in a county in Western Nebraska but to put on a No. 1 western state fair. Even though Lincoln is having trouble having a State Fair, we continue to have the best county fair in Western Nebraska.

I will add the parade was one of the best parades I've seen in Imperial in quite a while. The 100 or so Corvettes, many classic cars and pickups and all the motorcycles, plus floats -- it was like never before.

All we can say is "great job -- well done."

Oh yes, let's not forget all the decorated bales and decorated plots around the grounds. Could we please keep the ice truck, motorhomes and Pepsi trucks out of the handicapped parking? It is marked.

Wayne and Sharon Raasch
