Letter to the Editor

Not through our works

Wednesday, August 25, 2004

Dear Editor,

In Monday's Open Forum Steve Stramel raises the question of HOW the Kingdom of God will come to earth and suggests that it will be through 1. Free enterprise, 2 Leadership, 3. Creativity and 4. Owning your own business. In other words it will be through human effort and not through the mighty power of God. Steve would you be so kind as to lay a Biblical foundation in support of your beliefs?

In the 6,000 years of mans tenure here on this earth, every era has always ended with mans failure to obey God and thus brought Gods judgement and the start of a new era. According to scripture, we are now living in the last era of time (known as the Church and again it is ending in failure. Christians (those who profess to be) are getting divorced and remarried at a rate even faster than the world (that doesn't profess). Adultery, fornication, homosexuality and all other kinds of lawlessness are rampant in the world today. The drug culture is a worldwide phenomenon (just as prophesied that it would be in the Bible just before the Rapture takes place. Pornography has millions of men enslaved. Our prisons are filled to full and overflowing.

Sexual and spousal abuse are the order of the day. Most of the people of our world are enslaved by totalitarian regimes and regimes such as Islam, Hinduism and Budhism and many other false religions

How can you change the world without changing the hearts of men? You can't! That's why we preach the gospel (good news) of Jesus Christ. When people invite Him into their lives as Lord and Savior, he imparts to them spiritual life and makes them a brand new creature. II Corinthians 5:17 says, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature, old things are passed away, behold all things are become new."

Cordially,

Paul Schneider
