Letter to the Editor

Not too late

Monday, August 16, 2004

Dear Editor,

I'd like to reply to my detractors concerning their vain attempts to besmirch my credibility.

First, my life does not revolve around my bank account. My life revolves around Jesus Christ, He never changes and He never fails me or forsakes me. All I need to do is pray, and He comes through for me every time. If your god is money, Donald, you will never have enough. I almost tried being open minded once, but I don't want MY brain to fall out.

I've been in every state except Alaska, at least once. In 1972, I spent an hour in the airport in Hawaii, on a military flight to Okinawa, during refueling. My first time in New York City was in 1974, I delivered a load of swinging beef, driving for Navajo, the"Blue Eyed Indian." My best driving job was with Leprino Transportation Co. in Denver, 1988 to 1991. Leprino used to test some of the experimental equipment from the major manufacturers. The finest tractor I ever drove for Leprino was a white Paclease anteater with a 400 horse Cat, I had that tractor out for six weeks, and I was only passed twice going uphill, once, eastbound on Donner Pass by a black Peterbilt conventional pulling an autorack, and once by an empty flatbed going up Grapevine hill.

Both times I was grossing close to 80,000 pounds.

My best trip also was with Leprino, From the Pensacola Florida area to L.A. on I-10. My last driving job, in 1999, was hauling jet fuel from a refinery in Denver, to Eagle Colo. It was on one of these trips that I saw a most beautiful sight, on the way down Loveland Pass one winter afternoon, a family of mountain goats staring at me, about a hundred feet off the highway.

Back to politics: God sets people into power, and He brings them down. I'd like to give one example of how Jesus works things together for good. John F. Kennedy was the reason I became a Democrat, and Bill Clinton is the reason I have become a Republican. Here's just one example of the results of increasing liberalism in this country: In 1950 there were five known STD's (sexually transmitted diseases), today there are 30, and 30 percent of these are incurable viruses. (In the entire history of the world, no one has ever been cured of a virus). Of everyone, over the age of 12 in the U.S.A., one out of five is infected with Herpes, which is an incurable virus. In 1967, upon graduating from high school, one in 32 graduates had a S.T.D. In 1983, one in 18.

In 1996, one in four (in the USA) In the USA, 47 percent of sexually active teen singles are infected with H.P.V. (Genital Warts).

These stats are from Focus on the Family.

In conclusion, I would like to give an example of a Democrats definition of how to"create" jobs. Psychiatrists by the busloads have been hired to counsel women who have had abortions, and the survivors of the Columbine High School Massacre. It's not too late to put the Holy Bible and prayer back in the public schools.

Sincerely,

George R. Anderson

McCook
