Cleo M. Potter, 83, died Saturday (July 31, 2004) at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook.

She was born Oct. 25, 1920, to Leo Joseph and Mary Pearl (Chambers) Cross in Pisgah, Iowa. She grew up in Modale, Iowa where she graduated from Modale High School.

On April 8, 1941, she married Victor J. Potter in Rockport, Mo. In 1942, they moved to the family farm in Hayes Center. In 1972, they moved to Marion where they lived until the death of her husband, Victor, July 10, 1998. She moved to McCook, where she spent the remainder of her life.

She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one brother, Eugene Cross.

Survivors include three sons, Victor E. Potter and wife, Cheryl of Norfolk, Va., Jerry F. Potter of McCook and Dexter A. Potter and wife, Claudia of Hill City, Kan.; two sisters, Nadine Meints and husband, Vern of McCook and Norma Jean Myers of Rochester, N.H.; nine grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Services are Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., at the Union Congregational United Church of Christ in Hayes Center with the Rev. Jean Miller officiating. Interment will be in the Hayes Center Cemetery in Hayes Center.

Memorials may be given in her name and friends may call at Herrmann Funeral Home in McCook from 9 a.m.-9 p.m.
