Letter to the Editor

Another Word

Friday, July 16, 2004

Dear Editor,

I have a Word for Todd McCarty and Justice David Brewer, (David who has no doubt passed on to his reward by this time) and that Word is this: Zephaniah 3:5 "...but the unjust knoweth no shame."

Here's another word, Rhetoric: 1. the act of discourse, both written and spoken. 2. Affected and exaggerated display in the use of language. The only way anyone can come against the truth is with a lie, rhetoric, a "filibuster," or a bluff. By saying that the Trinity Decision is "Dictum" is merely an opinion.

The Federalist Papers should be required reading for all American law students (and bank employees) as should the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. Most Americans are shocked to discover that these foundational documents are not required reading in most law schools. Therefore, many law students graduate, pass the bar exam, and begin to practice law without having even a vague understanding of the overarching Biblical principles that formed our nation, its constitution and its laws.

The Federalist Papers were written by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison and John Jay. All three of these writers professed faith in Jesus Christ.This was and is a Christian nation. Thus it was established: 99.8 percent of the people, as late as 1776, professed themselves to be Protestant or Catholic Christians.

John 8:32"And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

The third verse of the great hymn "Onward Christian Soldiers" puts it so well:

"Crowns and thrones may perish, kingdoms rise and wane, But the Church of Jesus constant will remain;

Gates of Hell can never 'gainst that Church prevail;

We have Christ's own promise, and that cannot fail.

Onward Christian Soldiers, marching as to war,

With the cross of Jesus going on before."

Amen.

(My sources for these facts are The Word of God,"One Nation under God," "Ten things every Christian should know about the founding of America; by Dr. David C. Gibbs, Jr., President Christian Law Association with Jerry Newcombe, and"The Gates of Hell Shall Not Prevail," "The attack on Christianity and what you need to know to combat it," by Dr. D. James Kennedy with Jerry Newcombe, and Most Importantly, my Counselor, Mediator, Teacher and Friend who sticks closer than a brother, my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.)

Sincerely,

George R. Anderson
