Letter to the Editor

Christian nation

Monday, July 12, 2004

Dear Editor,

Have you heard the tragic joke about the teacher who discovered a number of students kneeling in a corner of the playground during recess? She rushed over and said "Children! Children! What are you doing?"

They answered, "We're sorry, we were just shooting craps."

She replied, "Phew! I was afraid you were praying!"

In 1892, the Supreme Court of the United States of America, after spending some 10 years poring through thousands of documents from our history, they wrote this in the classic Trinity decision:

"This is a religious people. This is historically true. From the discovery of this continent to the present hour, there is a single voice making this affirmation ... these are not individual sayings, declarations of private persons: they are organic utterances; they speak the voice of the entire people ... these and many other matters which might be notices, add a volume of unofficial declarations to the mass of organic utterances that this is a Christian nation!"

(My source of these facts is the book "The Gates of Hell Shall Not Prevail" by Dr. D. James Kennedy with Jerry Newcombe.)
