Nelson Elementary?

I read with interest the article about a name for our soon-coming new school.

The names mentioned were Brooks, Morrison, Norris and Nelson.

I would like to suggest Ben Nelson first. He was born and raised in McCook and has kept his "roots" around McCook, even when climbing the ladder of success. Right now, he is working hard for Nebraska.

All due respect to the others whose names were suggested. They had many accomplishments to their credit and for our benefit. Several have had their name memorialized in various places. McCook was an adopted home for all except Ben.

Another thought -- Ben is still living, and wouldn't it be great to have him KNOW and appreciate the honor?
