4th at North Platte

NORTH PLATTE -- The McCook Rebels 18 and under girls fastpitch team posted a 2-2-1 record and placed fourth this weekend at the North Platte Tournament.

Saturday

The Rebels first game was a six inning shut out. All three runs were scored in the 3rd inning on 2 hits, 1 walk and 1 error.

Kala Smalley had two hits and Erica Reitz and a single.

Stephanie Douglas pitched the 6 innings, striking out 1, walking 1 and giving up 5 hits.

Nebraska Shockers 000 000 0 -- 0

McCook Rebels 000 000 0 -- 0

The Rebels second game of the day ended in a 0-0 tie after seven innings. Kori Collins, Jillian Bryant and Kayla Wilson each singled.

Stephanie Douglas pitched 7 innings, striking out 10, walking 1, and giving up 6 hits.

Torrington Twisters 000 000 0 -- 0

McCook Rebels 000 010 0 -- 1

The last game of the day was another shut out in seven innings.

Michelle Gaunt, Jillian, Andrea Soden, Lindsey Lawson, Kala Smalley and Kayla Wilson each singled.

Natalie Brooks and Stephanie Douglas shared pitching duties, striking out 5, walking none, and giving up 9 hits.

Sunday

Nebraska Shockers 000 000 3 -- 3

McCook Rebels 000 010 0 -- 1

Sunday's first game was a rematch with the Shockers. Going into the 7th inning, the Rebels were ahead and one out away from a win.

A defensive error and then 3 hits scored the 3 runs for the Shockers to win.

Kayla Wilson had 2 hits, Andrea Soden and Lindsey Lawson each had singles.

Stephanie Douglas pitched 7 innings, striking out 5, walking 1 and giving up 6 hits.

North Platte Belles 520 000 0 -- 7

McCook Rebels 010 000 0 -- 1

In the consolation Game, the Rebels struggled against the Belles,

Andrea Soden got on base on a fielders choice with Lindsey Lawson advancing her.

Andrea scored McCook's only run on Natalie Brooks' hit and the Belles' throwing error.

Lindsey Lawson and Kori Collins each singled.

Natalie and Stephanie shared pitching duties, striking out 3, walking 4, and giving up 13 hits.

The girls had a real good weekend," said McCook coach George Briggs. "On Saturday, they played good defense in every game, scoring 2 double plays and on Sunday scoring another one.

"Andrea Soden and Kim Serbousek scored the first against the Nebraska Shockers. Jillian Bryant and Kayla Wilson scored the second one against the Torrington Twisters and Stephanie Douglas and Andrea Soden against the North Platte Bells scored the last double play made on Sunday.

"I was really pleased the girls didn't allow a run on Saturday and only gave up three unearned runs on Sunday against the Shockers."

The next games will be in Holdrege on Wednesday.

McCook Rebels 12 squad rolls past Cozad

NORTH PLATTE -- The McCook Rebels 12 and under fastpitch softball team competed in the North Platte Buffalo Bills Tournament.

In the first game, the Rebels defeated the Cozad Classics 19-3.

Kelsey Pohl went 3-for-4 with two singles and a home run.

Morgan Chitwood went 3-for-4 with two singles and a double. Shannoah Blake had two singles. Brooke Burton, Kaitlyn Douglas. Alyssa Smith and Jordan Pick singled.
