Lack of leadership

Monday, June 7, 2004

Dear Editor:

I wouldn't follow President Bush to a dog fight, even if he promised to win. As for his leadership capabilities, he isn't fit to lead preschoolers in "Ring Around the Rosy."

As far as respect goes, I cannot respect a president who goes to war not understanding the nature of the enemy. Those people find a quick way to heaven if the die in a holy war.

The only way to stop that would be to gather the bodies of the dead Muslims who had weapons, sprinkle pigs blood on them and bury them in mass graves with the cut up pig carcasses. If they touch or are touched by pigs in any way, they can't go to heaven.

It worked for General Blackjack Pershing in the Philippines in the 1906-1908 time frame. Muslim extremists started terrorizing people. Pershing's men caught 50 of them and he ordered them shot. He had his men dig a mass grave, butcher two pigs and save the blood. Then they shot 49 and buried them with the pigs. The 50th man was released. There was no more trouble with the Muslims for over 50 years.

This last came to me via email from a Marine I served with in Vietnam. I have to agree with his final question, "Where can we find another Blackjack Pershing."

P.S. I know that would be a form of religious terrorism, but there isn't one Arab over there who is worth the blood of an American serviceman or woman.
