COLBY -- The 18-year-old prisoner who shimmied down a rope of sheets and ran from the Decatur County jail in Oberlin Tuesday morning faces more charges following his capture in Colby.

Decatur County Sheriff Ken Badsky said Dustin Cole (AKA Dustin Rhodig), of the Norcatur-Oberlin area, was arrested by Colby police at 11:38 a.m., and he is back in jail in Oberlin.

Undersheriff Michael French said Cole was arrested without incident. French said he would charge Cole with escape and three other charges upon filing his report with County Attorney Steve Hirsch.

The sheriff said late Tuesday morning he considered Cole dangerous, as Cole had said he would not go back to jail.

Cole had been sentenced to the Norton correctional facility on burglary and felony theft charges, and was awaiting sentencing in Colby for probation violation.

Badsky said Cole tore through a wire mesh screen on a window in his fourth-floor jail cell, broke the window and climbed down a rope of sheets tied together. It was believed Cole escaped between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m.

The car he is believed to have stolen was discovered in Colby.
