Will vote yes

Dear Editor,

Thanks to the media for helping to inform the public regarding all sides of the upcoming school bond issue. There are many points to be considered, and I must admit, I'm biting my tongue to keep from responding to some comments.

I am eternally grateful to the McCook Public Schools, the administrators, teachers and classified staff for creating and maintaining an effective, first-rate educational experience for all children.

The accomplishments of our graduates show that they have been well-served by the balanced education received in this district.

We must do everything possible to empower this generation to acquire the knowledge and problem-solving skills to face the challenges ahead.

As we learn more about how schools in some other cultures suppress the individuality and thinking skills of their children, we should feel comforted by the fact that differing views can be voiced without fear of reprisal in our community, state and nation.

By passing this bond issue, we will provide teachers a better climate in which to teach and students an equal opportunity to learn.

I will vote yes to the bond issue and encourage others to exercise their precious right to vote.
