Day of Prayer

Wednesday, May 5, 2004

Dear Editor,

The National Day of Prayer is an annual event established by an act of Congress in 1952.

This event encourages Americans to pray for our nation, its people and its leaders.

The theme this year is "Let Freedom Ring, the freedom to gather, the freedom to worship, the freedom to pray."

This is based on the scripture "...proclaim liberty throughout this land and to all its inhabitants." Leviticus 25:10.

We invite everyone to come to the Memorial United Methodist Church, Norris Avenue and E Street, on Thursday at noon, and join the McCook Ministerial Association for a short prayer service.

We will be praying for our national, state and local leaders.

Please join us for this important event.

Sincerely,

Linda Lafferty,

chairman,

Outreach Committee Memorial United

Methodist Church
