Letter to the Editor

Bravo to writer

Wednesday, May 5, 2004

Dear Editor,

Bravo to Anne Kennedy! Her letter about the need for an updated elementary is right on target. I have a first grader at East Ward and I have always been concerned about the safety of the building as well as its other needs. Some people may say, "It was good enough for me, so it is good enough for them."

Our schools were good enough 20 to 50 years ago; now it is our children's turn for "good enough" schools. Every year the schools' age and the cost of upkeep goes up. Educational needs have changed a great deal in the last 20 years, and our current schools just don't work. If you have never voted before, now is the time to register and vote "yes" on the school bond issue, for our community and for its youngest citizens. Thank you,

Deb Goodenberger,
