Friends forever

The evening of April 2, 2004, 26 Little Partners from third grade in Indianola celebrated their last roundup.

This was the 21st year that Mrs. Nancy Renard as a teacher had sponsored a nine-month program called "Good Friends."

A program between the number of students each year and a senior citizen as a Good Friend for each student. Twenty-one years ago, or 1983, I was one of the Good Friends at the Curtis Public Schools and Mrs. Renard's program. Mrs. Renard and I have maintained our friendship all of these years. This year, Mrs. Renard invited me to be with her and the group of young student Partners for their Last Roundup.

I was fortunate during this evening to be the senior partner of Ashley Miracle. I would like to say a great big Thank You to Mrs. Renard and her 26 Little Partners and especially Ashley for such a happy and friendly roundup banquet. This was Mrs. Renard's last year of such a great program, because of her retirement.

This good friendship program is one of the greatest programs any school could have. Mrs. Nancy Renard, you're one of the greatest -- thank you for just being "Nancy. "
