Whose authority?

Dear Editor,

Who had the authority to commit a five-year exemption to annexation from the village of Stratton? It wasn't the village board!

Did the county and other entities who receive taxes exempt them? How can the board selectively annex property on both sides of the property in question and not include it? I feel if the person or persons who made that commitment should pay the taxes which the village is losing by not being in the corporate limits! I do not feel the board should honor that commitment if it wasn't a board decision.

Whoever told Stratcom that they would be exempt for five years should step forward so the people of Stratton will know who is running the show without being elected! Politics!
